The Background - Affluent Proposition Manager
The Affluent programme is developing solutions for our most valuable customers – with the affluent segment representing a sizable portion of the company's top line; and a significant contribution to overall profitability (£70 to £100 million over the next 5 years). This is one of the biggest opportunities the UK Insurance business has.

Activity is right across the UK composite (spanning both manufacturers and distribution), focusing on engagement, products and loyalty – all wrapped up in an iconic customer proposition.

The key focus is on delivery – test and learn rapid pilots with customers while also delivering iconic solutions to help defy uncertainty and deliver value for this customer group.

Currently our client has a small core team to kick start the core capability with the potential to expand further over the next 12 months. They are looking for someone with an ability to spot the areas where they can move the needle – pushing us on the art of the possible. The role provides an opportunity to make a big difference.

As the Affluent Proposition Manager You make decisions and help steer the work streams in the right direction. And will also take ownership for a specific work stream.

The location can be flexible but some traveling will be required.

The Team
The Affluent Proposition Manager reports to the Senior Propositions manager and working closely with UK BU teams across General Insurance, Health and Protection to develop customer-led propositions to generate additional value and drive sales.

This is a true ‘composite’ team. The role will work closely with Product Leads, Propositions Owners, Research Leads, and CX design – as well as with broader core and virtual teams from across business units, manufacturing lines, and distribution channels.

The right Affluent Propositions Manager loves our customers, you’ll be intrigued by them and driven to understand what problems, issues and needs they have. You’ll also love data, using insight and segmentation to spot opportunities and inform the creative proposition process. Based on this you will then creatively and innovatively create propositions that solve those problems or meet those needs and in turn also drive commercial value for the business.

Role and responsibilities

Role and Responsibilities of the Affluent Proposition Manager
• Develop innovative propositions that are truly distinct and mind-opening for the customer as well as aligned to business targets and overall priorities
• Develop and implement key affluent test and learns in 2018 working closely with teams across the business to deliver this.
• Based on results of the key test and learns consider the long term proposition/opportunities and develop a go to market plan action, then implement these.
• Work collaboratively with the strategic propositions manager, BU and distribution channel teams on the affluent multi channel and long term strategic propositions. Once these proposition have been defined you will then work with IT and other relevant teams to get this delivered quickly and within budget.
• You will need to work collaboratively with the strategic propositions manager and project team, delivering successful take up of the propositions and positive customer feedback
• Share key learnings, proposition visions and delivery plans with senior stakeholders
• To work with finance and other teams to create commercial business cases for proposition development
• To ensure that propositions go through the relevant compliance/risk sign off’s before launch

Skill set

Knowledge/Experience of the Affluent Proposition Manager
• Experience in understanding of the customer and developing customer led propositions.
• Experience of successfully designing and launching to market ground-breaking, disruptive and innovative propositions.
• Good commercial acumen, ability to deliver against targets and define tactical trading activities as well as innovative propositions.
• Lateral thinking ability – the proven tendency to think outside the box of the industry norm and get people to follow. Needs to be highly creative in their thinking and customer obsessed, always putting the customer first.
• Ability to work in and lead virtual teams
• Working understanding of customer research and how to identify target bull’s-eye segments and generate insights based on human needs.

Qualifications
• Strong education background with good business degree (essential)
• Marketing degree or CIM qualification (desirable)
