Our client, a leading education charity, is looking for a bright enthusiastic person to join their team in the role of Fundraising Manager to help them continue to grow the impact of the charity.

As Fundraising Manager, you will:

● Contribute towards a £1m team target
● Support and work with the Director of Philanthropy and Senior Philanthropy Manager in targeting and winning fundraising partnerships
● Actively contribute to the growth of the organisation

About the Role of Fundraising Manager:

● New Business development: Identify fundraising opportunities, develop and present compelling proposals to potential donors and companies
● Relationship Management: build and maintain relationships with major donors, trusts and corporate foundations, by providing regular reports
● Information Management: manage information and record the profile and fundraising activity of donors on CRM database
● Devise and organise fundraising campaigns and events and raise awareness of the organisation’s work

Role and responsibilities

Key Accountabilities of the role of the Fundraising Manager

Strategic:
● Develop proposals aligned with the charity's priorities and objectives and prioritise pipeline development accordingly 
● Liaise with internal teams: Marketing and Product Management and Finance to ensure Fundraising proposals are aligned with internal deliverables and take into account donors’ objectives.

Budgeting:
● Support the development of an annual budget plan, and manage the budget and ensure targets are met. Plan and take contingency action as necessary.
● Maintain a clear view of income and expenditure at all times, providing regular reports for the Director of Philanthropy and others as required.

Business Development:
● Seek out, test and develop new fundraising opportunities on an ongoing basis.
● Build networks and devise cultivation plans to ensure an ever increasing prospect pool.   

Organisational:
● Prepare agreements and reports for donors.
● Ensure proposals are accurate and are delivered in a timely manner to key stakeholders and internal teams.

Other:
● The Fundraising Manager will maintain a strong external profile keeping up to date with developments in the charity sector e.g. news and competitor activity.
● Represent the Director of Philanthropy and the charity positively, reflecting the organisation's values.
● Prepare reports for the Director of Philanthropy and Senior Leadership Team when required.

Skill set

Essential Technical Skills required to be successful in the role of Fundraising Manager:

● A proven track record of fundraising ideally at six figure level and the ability to manage budgets and meet fundraising targets.
● Significant experience within a marketing, client management or sales environment in the public or private sector ideally with a fundraising context.
● Excellent communication skills, written and presentation skills and confident ability to deliver verbal or written proposals to senior executives and persuasively convey the cause.
● Experienced in devising and managing a strong opportunity/sales pipeline delivering successful outcomes.
● Proven experience of providing creative and innovative approaches in developing new proposals that contribute towards departmental targets. 

Personal Skills:

● An established professional with ability to work with senior executives and high net worth donors.
● A proven team player. Someone who is open and who is able and willing to deliver beyond their personal brief.
● Understands and applies commercial and financial principles to improve performance.
● Ability to network with, and influence, senior people in order to achieve a pre-defined outcome.
● External orientation. Someone who understands the charity sector and key players.
