The Research Manager is an inquisitive, organised and analytical person who’s passionate about consumer insight and improving the customer journey. With 4-5 years’ experience working agency-side, you’ll have a wealth of knowledge in commercial and brand research, covering both qualitative and quantitative research methods.

As the Research Manager, you’ll be confident in managing projects from commission to debrief and undertaking all aspects of the process including: writing briefs, participant recruitment, discussion guide design, questionnaire creation, moderation, analysis and presentation.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work in-house for a leading online brand and participate in all types of research from persona and brand tracking to customer lifecycle surveys. You’ll be working as part of the marketing team (reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager) where you will have fantastic exposure to other channels such as Email, UX, PR, SEO and PPC.

Role and responsibilities

As the Research Manager, this is what you’ll be doing:

● Managing multiple research projects from kick-off to final deliverables across the UK and 6 international markets with minimal support
● Ensuring projects run smoothly and to the deadline, whilst keeping stakeholders updated throughout the project lifecycle
● Supporting on research strategy and advising on the best methodologies to meet the business objectives of senior team members
● Analysing and interpreting findings/data to create a clear story with actionable insights to present back to stakeholders and the wider team
● Moderating website usability in the UK and other markets with the help of language experts – travel is a big and exciting part of this role!
● Taking ownership of actions from usability by working closely with the UX Designer and Head of Technology Products to ensure solutions are developed and implemented to enhance the customer journey
● Writing, editing and programming customer surveys and questionnaires
● Acting as a key point of contact when liaising with research agencies to brief and manage larger scale projects, ensuring that their findings are delivered effectively and result in positive change for the customer and business

Skill set

As the Research Manager, these are the skills you’ll need to have:

● At least 4 years’ experience agency side in a mixed-method role
● Recent experience of moderating for F2F methods (focus groups, in-depths etc.)
● Degree in psychology, behavioural science, marketing or a related field
● Strong understanding of research best practice for consumer brands
● Excellent written English, presenting and communicating skills
● The ability to think analytically and develop analytical solutions to problems
● Strong organisational, project management and teamwork skills

Desirable skills & experience for the Research Manager:

● Experience of managing/participating in international research projects
● An understanding of/interest in contact lenses, eye care products and optometry
● Interest and understanding of the online only retail industry
